Prenatal and Family Outreach Worker

Reporting to the Coordinators, the Prenatal Support/Family Outreach worker provides basic outreach and support to families with young children and administrative duties. This is a full-time position 37.5 hours per week.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Greet and direct all visitors, including vendors and clients.

·         Fulfil administrative duties including answering telephones, documenting client visits and phone calls and update statistical information on a daily basis, updating participant files and organizing admin files, and sorting through receipts.

·         Plan and prepare meals with supervisors to ensure they meet the Canada’s Food Guide and models good nutrition; adhere to food safety regulations.

·         Assist with planning and preparation and assist with weekly program activities.

·         Sorting through donations

·         Shopping for program materials and supplies.

·         Co-facilitate and/or lead parent/child play groups.

·         Assist supervisors with overflow work, including word processing, data entry, and internet research tasks etc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

·         Post-Secondary education Diploma in Business and/or Social Work or equivalent work experience.

·         Food Safe Certificate and First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain

·         Have a valid BC Driver’s License, and reliable transportation

·         Experience working with young parents and their children

·         Proficient computer skills in MS office, Internet, and email

·         Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written

·         Able to maintain a secure and confidential filing system

·         Able to work in a team environment as well as individually

·         Understanding the importance of good nutrition and good parenting for healthy children

·         Ability to deal effectively and compassionately with clients, family members, and collaborate with outside agencies

·         Ability to navigate through/discern information, resources specific to the client need; maintain trust and confidentiality with clients

·         The successful candidate must pass a Criminal Record Check.
