Day Camp Coordinator

Conayt Friendship Society is looking for a qualified and motivated individual for the position of Summer Camp Coordinator. This position is a fixed term (8 weeks) Full-time position, Monday to Friday. Summer Camp Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, operation and support of programs ensuring their effective and cohesive operation on a day-to-day basis. The Summer Camp Coordinator is responsible for the training, support and supervision of camp staff and children. The Summer Camp Coordinator will report to the Executive Director.

Start Date: July 10, 2023

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Plans, leads, and implements camp programs for children

·         Provides high-quality educational and recreational opportunities and enjoyable experiences for camp participants

·         Supervises campers and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being

·         Maintains a schedule for camp participants

·         Organizes and leads various small and large group activities

·         Ensures the cleanliness of each camp

·         Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp program

·         Model good behavior for campers as it relates to sportsmanship, manners, and respectfulness

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

·         Must be a returning full-time student

·         Education and experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field

·         A current BC Driver’s License

·         A Valid First Aid Certificate and CPR-C (or Higher)

·         Enjoys being in the company of children

·         Organizational, supervisory, teamwork and leadership skills

·         Physical ability to lead a wide variety of challenging activities in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions

·         Ability to work independently and to exercise initiative

·         Work well with others; treat people with dignity & respect; promote confidence

·         Maintain trust and confidentiality

·         Ability to supervise peers of a close age

·         Ability to observe and assess camp staff, and camper behavior, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques 

·         The successful candidate must pass a Criminal Record Check.
