Program Director


Conayt Friendship Society is looking for a qualified and motivated individual for the position of Program Director. This position is a permanent position. The Program Director is accountable to the Executive Director and responsible for coordinating operations and ensuring that all tasks are carried out efficiently with quality with other fellow Department Managers. The Program Director is responsible for the success of each program they oversee. In addition, they research, plan, and implement outreach services that will ensure a successful outcome on behalf of their organization. This is a full time, 7.5 hours per day, position working Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm with a half hour lunch break.  


General Responsibilities: 

  • Initiate and set goals for programs according to operations of the Conayt Friendship Society.
  • Plan the programs from start to completion involving deadlines, milestones, and processes.
  • Devise evaluations strategies to monitor performance and determine the need for improvements.
  • Supervise all programs and project managers involved to provide feedback and resolve complex problems. 
  • Read reports prepared by managers to determine progress and issues. 
  • Creating and managing program budgets. 
  • Keep senior management informed with detailed and accurate reports 


  • A degree in Business Administration or equivalent education and experience.
  • Proven experience as a Program Director or other manager position.
  • Aboriginal cultures, Friendship Centre’s and urban issues. 
  • First Nations and non-profit governance and operations.
  • Excellent Knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics.
  • Outstanding knowledge of reporting and budgeting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Excellent organization and leadership skills.
  • Maintain trust and confidentiality with staff.
  • Work well with others; treat people with dignity & respect; promote confidence. 
  • Communications, problem-solving, decision making and judgement skills. 
  • Self-motivated, self-reliant and flexible to working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
